Probating an estate is a public and can be a costly endeavor.  This is particularly true when real estate is owned in more than one state and an ancillary probate is required in a second state.  This can be avoided very simply with the proper planning.  Where appropriate, we work with families and individuals to avoid the probate process prior to its need.
